GeoVille implements Copernicus HR Layers

The European Environment Agency (EEA) has recently contracted GeoVille GmbH and its international partners to implement the update of the Copernicus High Resolution Layers (HRLs) Imperviousness, Forest, Grassland, Water/Wetness and Small Woody Features in the frame of the continental component of the Copernicus Land Monitoring Service (CLMS).

GeoVille will produce environmental data for 39 European countries, based on Sentinel satellite data from the space program Copernicus. The objective of the project is to provide satellite based information on Europe’s environmental state. The data obtained will be used for applications in the areas of infrastructure development, forest and water management, as well as protection against natural hazards.

In combination with our analytical frameworks and advanced algorithms for time series data mining, Sentinel data streams will become a game-changer for future Copernicus Land Monitoring Services and new high-resolution applications at global scale.
