Habitat monitoring along motorways

The European Investment Bank (EIB) finances major parts of the Trans-European Transport Network. In order to independently evaluate progress of the construction work and to replace on-site visits the EIB is exploring the use of very high resolution Earth Observation data.

A stretch of some 30 km of new motorway construction has been mapped to assess the environmental impact of the new road on different rare species’ habitats during and after finalisation of the construction.
