From Temperature Downscaling to 2nd Generation Climate DT and Improved Data Exploration. We're pleased to announce a new DestinEStreamer release featuring several enhancements that make it easier to access, explore and analyse climate data directly in your browser. This release introduces a new temperature downscaling demonstrator, adds support for the latest 2nd generation Climate DT datasets, and improves the StatOnEdge user experience with address search.
One of the key additions in this release is the Temperature Downscaling Demonstrator. The demonstrator transforms 2nd generation Climate DT 2 m temperature data from a spatial resolution of 5 km to highly detailed 10 m temperature maps, allowing users to explore local temperature variations that would otherwise remain hidden at coarser scales.
The demonstrator currently supports three representative regions:
Paris (urban)
Belgium (rural)
Swiss–Italian border region (alpine)
All processing is performed directly in the browser, allowing users to interactively explore high-resolution results without requiring specialised hardware or software.
DestinEStreamer now provides access to the latest generation of Climate DT datasets developed by ECMWF. The available climate streams are based on the IFS-NEMO SSP3-7.0 model and replace the previous first-generation datasets.
The new generation offers improved data quality, consistency and overall model performance, providing users with more reliable multi-decadal climate projections for climate impact assessment and adaptation studies.
Finding your area of interest is now easier than ever. StatOnEdge now includes an address search function, allowing users to quickly navigate to a specific location instead of manually browsing the map. This small but impactful improvement streamlines the workflow for analysing Earth observation and climate data.
These new capabilities further strengthen DestinEStreamer's mission of making advanced Earth observation and climate data more accessible through browser-based, edge-enabled analytics.
