We are pleased to introduce a new capability in DestinEStreamer: Snapshot, enabling users to create and download visual outputs directly from EO and climate data streams. As the volume and complexity of Earth Observation (EO) and climate data continue to grow within the Destination Earth ecosystem, the ability to communicate insights effectively becomes increasingly important. With this new feature, users can transform data exploration into shareable, high-quality visual content in just a few clicks.
The Media Capture functionality allows users to generate:
Screenshots of the current map view
Video clips capturing dynamic data streams
Time-lapse sequences to visualize changes over time
These snapshots can be previewed before download, ensuring users capture exactly the content they need. All media is automatically DestinE-branded, providing clear attribution and making it suitable for sharing in reports, presentations, or online platforms.
The feature is available across all datasets in DestinEStreamer, including:
Sentinel-2 imagery
Sentinel-3 NDVI data
Climate datasets such as ERA5 and Digital Twin
This enables a wide range of users, from scientists and analysts to policymakers and communicators, to easily extract and share meaningful insights.
For example:
Researchers can illustrate spatial patterns or anomalies
Public authorities can communicate climate risks visually
Consultants can integrate dynamic visuals into client reports
Non-expert users can explore and share observations intuitively
The Snapshot feature is fully integrated into the existing user workflow, requiring no additional tools or data processing.
This functionality also plays an important role in outreach, enabling users to showcase the capabilities of DestinEStreamer and the broader DestinE platform through compelling visual content.
With this release, DestinEStreamer continues to evolve from a data access service towards a platform that enables users to interpret, communicate, and act on EO and climate data.
Making it easier to capture and share insights, the Snapshot feature contributes to bridging the gap between complex datasets and real-world applications, supporting both expert analysis and broader engagement.
