CarbComply - Towards multi-decade carbon cycle monitoring solutions supporting legal compliance with new EU regulations Exciting news! Our new CarbComply project is here to support the practical implementation of the EU's regulations. The main focus? The Regulation on Deforestation Free Products (EUDR) combating deforestation from imported goods. By the end of 2024, companies will not be able to sell products from deforested areas.
CarbComply will develop EO-based detection services, focusing on aboveground biomass (AGB) and soil organic carbon (SOC). Over 20+ years, we aim to cover the carbon cycle, creating a consistent, harmonized AGB density time series using Copernicus mission data. Carb Comply will also continuously monitor soil quality and SOC content, incorporating hyperspectral satellite data.
Our subcontractor, Cerha Hempel, a law firm from Vienna, will ensure our service ideas meet all legal requirements.
Our kick-off meeting on July 24th, 2024, marked the official start of our journey. There are many questions to tackle, and everyone is motivated to make this project valuable and user-friendly for a wide range of companies, ensuring easy evidence provision.
We look forward to collaborate with our partners RSS, Umweltdata, and our subcontractor Cerha Hempel.
