Excited to kick off a new project under the Copernicus In-situ Component, a key step in strengthening its role within Copernicus by integrating crowdsourced in-situ data and enriching future land monitoring activities with additional land cover and land use attributes.
Together with a strong consortium including GAF AG, IIASA, and us as the service provider for VLCC Grassland Mowing we are launching the:
“Pilot In-situ Data Collection Campaign – Crowdsourcing Grassland Mowing Events for CLMS.”

We are exploring how citizens and local communities can actively contribute to environmental monitoring by collecting in-situ data on grassland mowing events across Europe. Whether you're working in the field or simply spending time outdoors, you’ll be able to record observations and directly contribute to a European dataset.
The project will develop a mobile app, provide training materials, and ensure high data quality through real-time feedback and validation / QC workflows. After a pre-pilot phase to test and refine the approach, a full campaign will be launched combining directed and opportunistic data collection.
