European Field Operational Test on Safe, Intelligent and Sustainable Road Operation (FOTsis)

FOTsis is a large scale European field testing project of highway infrastructure management systems needed for the operation of close-to-market cooperative systems. The aim is to assess in detail both  their effectiveness and their potential for a full-scale deployment for European roads.

GeoVille is involved in the project design and execution of this EC FP7 project.

Specifically, FOTsis will test the road infrastructure’s capability to incorporate the new cooperative systems technology and provide the following services:

  • Emergency Management
  • Safety Incident Management
  • Intelligent Congestion Control

  • Special Vehicle Tracking
  • Advanced Enforcement
  • Infrastructure Safety Assessment


Within these services, GeoVille’s primary role is to act as a map and geographic data provider and the provision of GIS capacity to the project partners by

  • establishing a database collection of existing highway information
  • performing spatial analysis to establish non-existing information layers
  • establishing scenario based spatial information layers
  • providing spatial analysis and mapping know how and capacity building
