CROPSIM - funded by Luxembourg Ministry of Higher Education and Research – provides
innovative technology and services based on earth observation to
| (1) | estimate crop yield and the optimal time of harvest, |
| (2) | facilitate and fasten decision making for an adequate management of crops by providing reliable short-term forecasts, |
| (3) | improve the model protections at regional scale by assimilation of space-borne remote sensing data, |
| (4) | establish an interactive web tool offering regularly updated information on crop growth and a comparison of the current situation with the long-term average at a regional level. |
Among others this tool will provide standard maps of predicted agricultural season quality indicators, such as extreme temperatures at a given crop stage, estimated actual soil moisture reserve, state of advancement of the development stage during a given month, abnormal weather conditions, expected crop yield and suitable time of harvest for Luxembourg and the Greater Region.
GeoVille Environmental Services is responsible for the collection and documentation of the user requirements, the development and implementation of a web application and the drafting of a road map together with a business plan.
